The potential problem with cloned animals (and plants for that matter) is the lack of genetic diversity. Genetic diversity is what gives species the ability to respond to everything from viruses to predators. Climate change and air transportation are distributing organisms to places they've never been before. Clones developed to resist one disease may be completely vulnerable to another.
