Why didn't the Uzamaki clan take care of Naruto growing up?

There is no Uzamaki clan and even if there were they would live in the village hidden in the mist, since his mother is from there. Also they probably would not do it since he has the nine-tailed fox within him. well how do u know that his mom came from the village hidden in the mist?
