Advantages: Allows possible pregnancy to occur should a woman's reproductive health be compromised (such as through cancer treatments). Allows for In vitro fertilization to occur. Woman can become pregnant later in life. Surrogate pregnancy can result.

Disadvantages: It is possible that none of the embryos will survive the thawing process. Expensive.
