How did the south deal with economic problems during the cilvil war?

Blockade running. Illegal cross-border trading. Printing more Confederate dollars, leading to ruinous inflation.

Also improvising an industrial base from scratch - with results that impressed even their enemies.

And... a lot of just going without. Stitching their own clothes. Rationing the food. (See the second half of 'Gone with the Wind'.)
