One good practice is to take some time to center yourself, envision the day ahead of you, and prioritize your tasks. Prioritization is very important. It is often the key to success in a job. You need to be able to evaluate the things you need to do and separate out what feels urgent but is not important to long-term goals. You need to set aside time each day for the important tasks so that you are always moving forward. I usually keep a pad on my desk. Evey evening before leaving the office, I fill it up with what I need to do tomorrow. Then next day, I can take care of those items and tick them off as I go thru them.
