How do you make the license plate light work?

on some cars its the wires that come from the front end of the car. u have a negative and posite wire which are connected to the bulbs that come out for the licence plate.. otherwise the bulbs could be toasted already but u wanna check ur fuses too to make sure they are not blown up... or if you have one of those aftermarket ones then all u need is positive and ground..
