A double bridle has two bits - a bradoon, or snaffle - and a curb bit.

The curb is usually used to help create the horse's frame, and the snaffle is used more to give the horse cues - instructions.

The bradoon rein is held between the 4th and 5th fingers and is usually picked up first. Then the hand is turned and the curb rein is picked up and held between the 1st and 2nd fingers.

Both bits and reins are used independently as well as together to cue the horse.
