In volleyball, teams earn points by successfully hitting the ball over the net and landing it in the opponent's court. A point is scored when the opposing team fails to return the ball or commits a fault. The first team to reach 25 points (and be ahead by at least 2 points) wins a set, and matches are typically best of 5 sets. Each team is allowed 3 hits to return the ball, and players rotate positions after each point.
