What are the importance of pig farming?

Most pigs are raised for a few years until they are big enough to be marketed for meat. Some of the highest quality boars will often be kept for breeding purposes, and small percentage of some pig breeds are actually trained to dig truffles out of the ground, which are eaten as delicacies in some countries.
