Felipe Calderón became the president of Mexico on 2006 December 1, and will serve until 2012 November 31, after narrowly beating rival Andrés Manuel López Obrador by less than a half percent or less than a quarter million votes in the presidential election. He is a member of the National Action Party (PAN).
