What does two nation theory means?

The Two Nation Theory was a concept that emerged in the Indian subcontinent during the early 20th century, championed by Muslim leaders. It advocated for the idea that Hindus and Muslims in the region constituted two separate nations with distinct religious, cultural, and historical identities, and thus deserved separate territories to govern themselves autonomously.
