Ccn cream of tartar be used to help asthma?

My daughter is 6 years old. She has been hospitalized several times for Asthma. We were over at my sisters house and had no inhailer available as it had been a while since her last attack. In a desperate situation we were getting ready to rush her to get her meds. Her breathing got worse and worse, then my sisters mother in law walked through the door and had cream of tartar with her (she uses it for asthma too) and I followed her instruction of 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar and 3 tbs of hot water and hesitantly had her drink it down. In no time at all, her breathing had improved and we no longer had to rush anywhere. Since then, I have had to resort to it again as we have run out of her inhailer again and I have no money to pay for a new prescription at this time. Cream of Tartar works great!!
