1990 mk2 golf gti 16v I cant seem to find where the relay is located for my ecu i have checked behind the panel to the right under the stearing column where the other fuses relays are. Any ideas?

16v GTI Mk2 Golfs/Jettas do not have an ECU as they use the Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical injection system. Apart from the electric fuel pumps and associated relay, the only electronics fitted to the 16v 'KR' engine are...

• Electronic ignition control (TCI-H module)
  
• Supplementary fifth 'cold-start' injector
• Electronic idle stabilisation control (ISV control module)

The TCI-H module is located under a plastic shield next to the weather shield covering the windscreen wiper motor. This is also where the ECU is located on later 8v Golfs fitted with the Digifant electronic fuel injection system.

The ISV control module is located behind the centre console, behind the ashtray and electric window switches (where fitted).
