What is the tone of the poem the road not taken?

The tone of 'The Road Not Taken' is quite mystic for an ordinary reader. Truly speaking, don't we discern an undercurrent of companionship or a tone suggestive of sympathy for readers? It is Frost himself who for reader sake would externalize the internal failure or success and thus philosophize the askew road of life.
