Since this is your boyfriend's cousin it is not unusual to let a relative or guest sit in the front seat while you sit in the back. While he is driving he may want to talk to her and perhaps ask how her and her family are doing. If it really bothers you then start good communication practices and nicely ask him why he preferred his cousin sitting in the front seat instead of you.
