How can you catch fruit flies without using vinegar?

You can catch fruit flies by setting out a trap with a piece of ripe fruit, such as a banana or Apple, covered with plastic wrap with small holes poked in it. The fruit flies will be attracted to the fruit and get trapped underneath the plastic wrap.
