When does the cross bridge cycle end?

The cross bridge cycle ends when the myosin head detaches from the actin filament after the power stroke has occurred. This detachment is facilitated by the binding of ATP to the myosin head, which causes a conformational change that weakens the bond between myosin and actin. Once the myosin head is released, it can hydrolyze ATP, re-cocking itself to start a new cycle if calcium ions remain present and the muscle is still stimulated.
