What sport did Derek Jeter play as a kid?

Derek Jeter was born in Pequannock Township, New Jersey and moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan when he was 4 years old. Derek and his sister Sharlee would spend summers at their grandparents home in New Jersey, who took them to Yankees games. Derek also graduated Kalamazoo Central High School.
