Argentina have won the World Cup twice, Beating the Netherlands in 1978 and winning again and 1986 against West Germany (as they were then, prior to the reunification of Germany).

They have also finished runners-up twice, being beaten finalists in the first World Cup in 1930 (famously losing to Uruguay) and 1990, losing to Germany in a notoriously poor and ill-tempered final.
