What was the explosion in West Hendon in February 1941?

On the night of 13 Feb 1941 a V2 rocket fell over Argyle, Ravenstone, York and Ramsey Roads in West Hendon. Eighty people died and 40 houses were totally destroyed with many more left in ruins.
