You need the Census number, example say there are 50 residents in the facility.

Take 50 ( the census) times the ppd budget, so lets say nursings ppd budget is 2.75. then multiple by the number of days.

Example, 50 residents X 2.75 ppd = 137.50 hours of nursing for the day. You would schedule accordingly.

50 residents X 2.75 ppd x 7 days = 962.50 nursing hours for the week.

PPD or per patient day is simply the budgeted amount the facility is looking at in each department. Nursing being the largest budgeted department.
