William B. Bate (born October 7, 1826 in Bledsoe's Lick, Tennessee; died March 9, 1905 in Washington DC) succeeded Alvin Hawkins as the twenty-sixth Governor of Tennessee, serving between January 15, 1883 and January 17, 1887, including the whole of 1885.
