Why did they bomb the twintowers of the world tradecenter?

They thought America was too weak to fight back and viewed it as a symbol of our power. They didn't realize that we were more then a symbol and don't like being killed off. The bombing did not bring down the trade centers and the people involved were caught.

The later try of hitting them with planes sure worked.
