Tasmanian devils give birth to live young after a gestation period of about three weeks. The mother typically gives birth to multiple tiny, underdeveloped joeys, which then crawl into her pouch to continue developing. The joeys stay in the pouch for about four months, during which they latch onto a teat for nourishment. After leaving the pouch, the young devils remain dependent on their mother for several months as they grow and learn to hunt.
