If you have witnessed a man overboard what should you do?

Verbally sound an alarm by (loudly) shouting . Throw anything that will help the person to float . If possible get a person to keep a strict eye on the person's position, nothing else matters. - do not lose sight of the person in the water. The Captain and crew will (should) follow an overboard procedure.
