How can a physcian assistant become a medical doctor?

There are multiple means for which a physician assistant (PA) can follow in becoming a doctor of medicine or osteopathy (MD or DO). Some programs offer what is called as an PA-MD bridge program. However, the need to prepare and sit for the MCAT exam may still remain for American medical and osteopathic schools. A PA could try an overseas or Caribbean medical school that does not have the MCAT requirement. Regardless of the MCAT the PA must graduate from a medical or osteopathic school and complete the USMLE exam sequence to qualify for board certification.
