How can heat energy be converted to electric energy?

This is done at every power station that uses the Rankine cycle, whether using fossil fuels or nuclear fuel. The heat produced by the fuel is used to produce high pressure steam which is then expanded through a steam turbine which is coupled to a generator, which sends out the electric power to the main transmission line.
