The slave trade boat was full of stench that was so vile that the doctors sometimes refused to help the slaves that needed treatment. The slaves were treated less than a human being should be treated, they were fed but were treated with such disregard that it is saddening and awful. The slaves were often whipped for not eating as death was considered the easy way out and the only way out. A male and female actually tried to drown themselves but were caught and sentenced to whipping. A man once went through with drowning 133 slaves because they were insured and were considered worth more than dead, he outraegeously flogged a baby to death and forced the mother who bore the child to throw it over board.

The end result is that the conditions were as horrible as prison...probably even worse.
