Where is household robot used?

A couple examples of automation might include a home bread maker. That device mixes and bakes bread, and has the ability to wait appropriate times for the dough to rise.

One could consider your heating and air conditioning system to be automated; a sensor detects when the temperature is out of an allowable range, then activates either the heating or cooling mechanism until the temperature is back within the acceptable value. One might also consider your water heater to be automated.

Another example might be your television. In older sets people had to manually change the channel selector and volume. Those operations are now performed with a simple push of a button.

Then there's the "remote start" on your car, and the cruise control.

We tend to automate familiar processes; things that are repetitive and easily defined.
