Does rubber impact the environment

Old tyres are an environmental problem,and difficult to recycle. They pile up into mountainous heaps and when they catch fire, are nearly impossible to extinguish, and ooze toxic sludge and a lot of black smoke. A large heap can burn for months.Tyres can be linked together and used to make artificial reefs,which soon become a haven for marine life(and surfers) There are many ways they can be reused:)
