Do love birds need a mate?

No this is a common myth. Though lovebirds who have been raised together will bond to one another and may become depressed if separated, they do NOT need to be sold in pairs. They actually will bond better with humans if kept alone and not in pairs. If they have another bird as a friend, they will choose to bond to them and not to the human.
