All population centers were targets of opportunity. Several were priority targets that required special attention such as:

  • Washington, DC, the National Capital
  • Omaha, Nebraska which was the home of the Strategic Air Command.
  • New York City as the Free Words Financial center,
  • Colorado Springs, Colorado as the home of the North American Air Defense Command.
  • Minot, North Dakota as a major Strategic Air Command base
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the main main manufacturing city in America, and because of its steel industry, which was used to help make weapons
  • And a long list of US towns that some Americans haven't heard of, but were known targets to the USSR.
