How is steel bird-shot made?

Steel birdshot is made by melting steel and then forming it into small spherical pellets through a process called shotting. The molten steel is poured through a sieve or nozzle, creating droplets that fall into a cooling medium, typically water or oil, where they solidify into round pellets. After cooling, the pellets are sorted by size and may undergo additional processes like polishing or coating to enhance performance and reduce corrosion.
