Why do men prefer sport cars over fuel efficient cars?

Even though fuel efficient cars should sound reasonable with gas prices this high, they have this thing they like to call their "man card", and apparently sports cars make them look tough and manly, while smart cars are degrading and sissy. They are a complicated specimen.
