Has the volleyball undergone any major changes since its original inception?

When Basketball was first invented people who played used a peack basket or a bucket. When the made a shot they would have to get a ladder to get the ball, but then someone cut a hole made a shot and they didn't have to retrive it, this is what majorly affected basket ball.
