Who invented the trampoline?

Circus lore has it that a Frenchman, named du Trampoline, helped develop the basics of the trampoline as we know it. ---- The trampoline was invented by a man named George P. Nissen,though another man named Laurens (Larry) V. Griswold helped in the very early stages of development.
