Where does the book scat take place?

The science teacher Mrs Starch goes missing on a class trip,after a forest fire and Nick and Marta goes chasing after her while Smoke is being chased by cops for starting the fire. They find out Smoke, Mrs Starch and Twilly(this other dude with Mrs Starch and Smoke) are together to save this panther cub. Meanwhile, red diamond energy is setting up an illegal oil drill in the same place. Nick and the others save the panther and the oil company gets arrested.
