What is the job description for subway?

I did that - a long time ago - in New York City.

As I remember you had to be a high school grad, pass a (civil service) exam, and be willing to join the union. I think the only important part was the exam.

I'm a subway employee. there is basically no qualifications. i was going to high school and got hired. no union to join as far as i know.
