What year was the yoyo invented?

Approximately 2500 years ago. It is considered the second oldest toy in history (doll is #1) and was a popular toy in ancient Greece. In the Philippines, where it was much larger and had studded sharp edges and a 20' string, it was used as a weapon. It became popular in Europe during the 1800s.
