Do clams molt

Clams do not molt in the same way that some other animals, like crustaceans, do. Instead of shedding their shells, clams grow their shells continuously throughout their lives. As they grow, they add new layers to their shells, which can be observed in the growth rings. If a clam's shell is damaged, it may repair itself, but it does not undergo a molting process.
