Why is knockdown ceiling flaking?

flxking might occur due to a number of reasons.

i.e. The ceiling has been damp and dried out causing flaking

The ceiling has a differing paint on its surface when then painted later

The ceiling was NOT primed correctly before painting

The cieling is a in a very cold/damp environment and the paint needs to be more external grade rather than internal grade. etc
