The 'Barbarossa' battles took place throughout the western portion of the Soviet Union in 1941. Serving as the code-name for the German invasion of the Communist nation in that year, 'Barbarossa' raged from Leningrad in the north to Moscow in the center to Rostov in the south of the Soviet Union's western region.
