How did Saint Michael become an archangel?

He was created by God as an Archangel long before the universe existed.
He became an archangel when God created him long before the universe even existed.
Angels didn't use to be people.God created all they angels before he made they earth.God just made them in ranks,and he decided to make St.Michael an arch angel.1 3rd of they angels decided not to follow God and became devils.
