Do groundhog families stay together

Groundhog families do not typically stay together for long periods. After mating, female groundhogs give birth to a litter of young, which stay with their mother for about 6-8 weeks until they are weaned. Once the young groundhogs are mature enough, they leave to establish their own territories, leading a mostly solitary life as adults.
