A friend of mine just found out from the dealer that there is no dip stick for the Transmission Fluid!! Appearently, the only way to check it is to remove the plug (bolt) from the front of the transmission pan. This requires getting under the vehicle while it is kept level. The fluid must be "warm or at ambient temperature" and checked only after the shifter has been moved through all positions while your foot is on the brake. The real trick is to find a way to pump the fluid into the pan. It should be filled until the fluid runs out of the plug hole. I feel sorry for my friend because he regrets ever buying his Discovery. Good luck with yours.
