What does the term Night Audit mean in reference to Hotel Motel positions?

A night auditor balances all paperwork for a hotel on a daily basis. They usually balance credit card receipts, check discrepancies in billing, file paperwork, enter/conduct wake up calls, and monitor the hotel's activities usually between 11pm and 7am. Most of the evening is spent running reports and closing the day of business.
