Yes
I have to disagree with this answer. I work at a large hospital and I am the BCBS collector. I have seen many plans that do no cover any well-health services. Routine physicals for adult and/or children, mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, etc have been denied many times because they are not covered benefits. A very well-known retail store (starts with "wa- and ends in -rt") does not cover any routine services. I can't speak for this partcular employer on a national basis, but in Texas, claims come back denied and then the charges become the patient's responsibility. As I said previously on another answer--your best bet is to find out BEFORE you have a procedure done, if it's going to make a difference whether you have the procedure performed or not. Call the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask Member Services if a particular procedure will be covered. If you are told yes, then by all means, get the name of the person you are speaking to, as well as a "reference number" for the call, so if the claim does come back with a denial, you will have some sort of recourse. By the way, many counties have an office where people may go to obtain reduced rate immunizations.
