Why are all tractors powered by diesel engines?

Diesel engines produce better low end torque than gasoline engines and the availability of low end torque - meaning lots of power at low speeds - is an absolute necessity in the functions performed by most tractors.

Another reason is that in many countries diesel fuel for farm vehicles - including tractors - is highly subsidized by the government so is much cheaper to buy than regular gasoline.
