What is scotology?

I'm not sure you'll find "scotology" in any dictionary, but I've seen it used three ways.

The science or study of darkness. "Scotobiology" is both more specific and much more common.

The study of Scotland, its people, culture, language, etc.

A misspelling of "scatology".
