What is the proper use of cornichons?

They are just tiny tart pickles with a French name. Pronounced "CORN-e-shons" Use to accompany foods at the table as you would any pickled vegetable, olive, etc. Serve at buffet or with appetizers using picks, or toothpicks, or appetizer forks for guests to spear as they munch. Often served on the side with fish and meats, especially smoked meats, or with cold cuts (for buffet, roll cold cut slices and secure with toothpick to make them easy to handle and look more "fancy").
